Questions And Answers On L-arginine Foods

Helena asks…

What foods have high sources of L-arginine?

I need foods with amino acids (specifically L-arginine). Please list the foods with it. Thanks!!

hari1956 answers:

The typical dietary intake of L-arginine is 3.5 to 5 grams daily. Most dietary L-arginine comes from plant and animal proteins. Small amounts of free L-arginine are found in vegetable juices and fermented foods, such as miso and yogurt. Soy protein and other plant proteins are richer in L-arginine than are animal proteins, which are richer in lysine. It is thought that the possible hypocholesterolemic effect of soy protein is due, at least in part, to the higher L-arginine content in this protein.

Cindy asks…

Foods with high content of Amino Acids? Spec. L-Arginine ?

Hi! I want to maxamize my height growth (I am still a teen), and I heard food content with high amino acids a release more growth hormone. However, I was wondering which certain foods have this high content of amino acids?, specifically L-Arginine which is known to release human growth hormone.

Thanks anyone for a response!

hari1956 answers:

Well….. I don’t know if you’re going to get more growth hormone for real… But eggs are always be the best for everything. They are the perfect protein – the amino acids in eggs are the protein against which all other foods are measured for protein content.

Good fats play a big part in hormone production – and the yokes of eggs have extremely fragile and valuable fats which aid in growth and repair of tissue.

So have lots of eggs – “sunny side up” if possible so that the yokes aren’t cooked – then you get the fats as nature intended.

If you want to read about all this – Atkins wrote a kick a$$ book called “Vita-Nutrient Solution” about all the vitamins, minerals, amino acids and fats and his use of these in his practice – he was a heart doctor.

You can get the book for nothing (except postage) if buy it used off of Amazon. I read the covers off the first copy I had and I’m on my second copy.

Joseph asks…

can you tell me what foods contain high amounts of L-arginine?

hari1956 answers:

Jane asks…

What cat foods can I buy that contain arginine?

So, I am taking this nutrition class, and my teacher mentioned that cats require l-arginine in their diets. So here I am aimlessly searching different cat products, and almost none of them contain arginine? Does anyone know of a cat food that contains this (my cat is 5 years old)? He currently like HIlls Science Diet Sensitive Stomach, but it is not listed in the ingredients!

What do I do? I don’t want him to get hurt from all that NH3 buildup?

hari1956 answers:

L-arginine is an amino acid and is present in all animal protein sources. Poultry is a particularly good source.

He would only get an abnormal increase in ammonia levels if his kidneys weren’t functioning well.

All animal proteins have plenty of arginine.

Steve asks…

is L-arginine really dangerous to the one who has heart problem? and lead to eventual death?

i have a history of rheumatic heart when i was a child like 12yr old and now im 23 but for years i dont suffer that rheumatic heart probs again like the symtoms again. i wanna take supplement of L-arginine as food supplement. i would take like 1gram a day as a dietary supplement everyday and i like its benifits it gives.i just worried about what i read on the internet that there’s already cause of death from taking this supplement and it’s the one that has heart problem. can i take this supplement in my status? or should i ask doctor first? .

Questions And Answers On Nitric Oxide Bodybuilding

Alana asks…

how good does nitric oxide work for bodybuilding?

has anyone noticed a diff when they take nitric oxide

hari1956 answers:

Hi,

Nitric Oxide helps with endurance, recovery and lowering lactic acid buildup. It gives you a full pump effect…like the pump you get when you workout times two. Nitric Oxide dilates the blood vessels….this increase in blood flow helps deliver nutrients such as creatine and protein to the muscles and oxygen.

Hope this helps!

Davina asks…

Nitric Oxide For Bodybuilding?

Hello, I’ve been working out for quite sometime and taking many different supplements for my body. Recently, I came across “Nitric Oxide” sold at a store. I was wondering if it was safe for me to take. I’m not on any medications or anything that would prevent me from taking it, but I want to know from others who had the experience of taking it and if its worth it or if its dangerous. Thanks.

hari1956 answers:

Alot of the NO supplements on the market have too many stimulants added on. If you are looking to avoid stimulants just buy the active ingredient in the supplement, specifically the amino acid L-Arginine. My personal favorite is the stimulant free MHP TRAC, which is just creatine and arginine w/o stimulants.

Ken asks…

What are the best bodybuilding supplements (by brand)? As far as creatine, proteins, Nitric oxide etc…?

hari1956 answers:

I like the AST products. A lot of research behind them.

Questions And Answers On Amino Acid Supplements

Susan asks…

Can tuna be substituted for amino acid supplements?

Silly question I know, but amino acid supplements are basically protein right? I was curious because people take amino acid supplements before they do their cardio. So could tuna be substituted as an amino acid supplement since it has almost no carbs or fats and lots of protein?

hari1956 answers:

Yes, protein is simply made of amino acids, so tuna would work similarly. The main advantages of aminos are that they are digested quickly and some specific aminos can have almost drug-like effects.

It’s one of those small issues though. The main thing is to follow a great training and nutrition plan. If you need a good plan I would recommend this one: http://www.athleticmusclebuilding.com

It worked well for me.

Charlie asks…

Tired of taking supplements- brewers yeast in place of taking an amino acid supplement?

is brewers yeast almost a complete source of amino acids if i took the rec. dose of 4 TBS a day? (its so much cheaper than amino acid supplement and has b vitamins and other minerals)

hari1956 answers:

Well, that’s a tough yes/no answer. You’re right that it’s a good protein source that has a good variety of Amino Acids and other nutrients… But the other nutrients might cause you problems. A typical Brewer’s Yeast has about 8 grams of protein per tablespoon… But it also has almost 100 mcg of Chromium in that same tablespoon. In order to get the RDA of 50 grams of protein, it would be about 6 tablespoons of Brewer’s Yeast… Which would be about 600 mcg of Chromium.
The reason that could be a problem is that the RDA of Chromium is 120 mcg and is normally recommended up to 200 mcg per day… But more importantly, Chromium may enhance insulin sensitivity, which can affect glucose levels. Needless to say, that can be potentially harmful (or potentially helpful depending on the dosage and needs) for diabetics or hypoglycemics, but it can also throw off blood sugar levels for those who aren’t in higher doses like that.

Before taking that much Brewer’s Yeast, I would check with a doctor that knows about nutrition to see if it would be safe. If you would like a safer alternative, you could also take a whey protein powder (or pea or similar non-milk protein if you can’t handle the dairy) to get most all of the essential Amino Acids. Good luck and I hope I helped!

Jim asks…

Is all amino acid supplements products alike? Should I buy a random box of amino acid pills 45$ from my coach?

I workout. And I read that amino acid is good.

hari1956 answers:

Unless your coach has MD after his name, don’t take ANY pills from him. There are plenty of horror stories about coaches pushing drugs to their young teams. If you are interested in amino acid supplements, talk to your family doctor about them.

Thomas asks…

What is the difference between BCAA and Amino acid supplements?

Which is better?
BCAA supplements seem to be more expensive.
Thanks!

hari1956 answers:

BCAA stands for branched chain amino acids, they are used to make proteins and help with muscle hyperthrophy.
Amino acid supplements are basically all of the 20 amino acids found in human body, each sold seperately.

BCAA, on the other hand contains only three amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine.

I hope this explains at least part of your question :)

Marie asks…

Are protein powder and amino acid supplements the same?

What’s the difference. Protein is made from amino acids. Some are labeled protein powder. Some are labeled amino acids. Do they both give the same effect?

hari1956 answers:

Yes they are the same. If you look on your protein poweder, it will show you the amino acids in it and the amounts (mine does). But stick with the powder, its gunna take a whole lot of amino acid pills to come close to whats in a scoop of protein powder.

Questions And Answers On Vasodilation

Mark asks…

vasodilation ؟؟؟؟؟؟؟؟?

if vasodilation refer to both vein and artery so when we talk about inflammtion for example or face flushing there is vasodilation why we see only red color of artery why we dont see that blue color of vein when dilated
thanks

hari1956 answers:

Arbitrarily, because the head has much more oxygenated blood going through it – so the highest concentration of “blue” veins are in the arms/legs rather than your face. And the larger blood vessels are the supplying arteries/veins, so when dilated, the large would become even larger…

Jane asks…

How does vasodilation lead to decrease in blood volume?

I understand that heat induced sweating leads to water loss which in turn causes hypovolemia.

But how does cutaneous vasodilation lead to hypovolemia?

hari1956 answers:

Cutaneous vasodilation leads to a redistribution of blood away from the central pool – it does not change total blood volume. The effect of this, if severe, can lead to a decrease in blood pressure, thereby mimicking hypovolemia.

Charlie asks…

What are the effectors that cause vasodilation and vasoconstriction?

And if you really want to help me out..
1. Why does vasodilation not cool you when the temperature of the environment is higher than your body temp?
2. Explain why vasodilation and vasoconstriction are said to be antagonistic effectors?

TAAAAAAA. :)

hari1956 answers:

Sorry i don’t remeber the rest of this stuff it was last year i learnt it

2. They act against one another vasodialation–> dialates and
vasocontriction–> is the constriction

Cindy asks…

Is ankle swelling associated with heat exhaustion due to vasodilation?

I have been told that ankle swelling can be a sign of heat exhaustion/heat stroke, im assuming that its to do with vasodilation but wondered if this was the case or there was another reason to it
Vasodilation does cause “swelling” this can be commonly seen in angio-oedma in anaphylaxis!!

hari1956 answers:

Vasodilation shouldn’t cause cause swelling, since blood and fluid is kept within the lymphatic and cardiovascular systems.

Swelling usually happens when soft tissue damage or oedema occurs.
Oedema can occur as a result of heart failure.

Nancy asks…

What is the difference between vasodilation and vasoconstriction?

differentiate between vasodilation and vasoconstriction

hari1956 answers:

Really?

Vasoconstriction – blood vessels get smaller (constricted).

Vasodilation – blood vessels get bigger (dilated).

That’s really all there is to it.

Questions And Answers On Erectile Dysfunction Psychological

Lynn asks…

Can alcohol actually help with psychological erectile dysfunction by lowering stress and improving confidence?

I know alcohol dilates the blood vessels etc negatively effecting erection but just how much of it does that? I mean a few beers might help relieve stress and improve the mood. Most ED cases are psychological so in this case wouldn’t alcohol logically help by improving state of mind?

hari1956 answers:

Yea it helps.
But there is a fine line so if you get trashed then it won’t help at all.
A good buzz will though.

Susan asks…

How can i get over psychological erectile dysfunction?

I had been with the same girl for a long time (15 yrs) with no problem at all but now i have been single for about a year and cannot seem to get over this problem. i have been with several different women and the only thing that helps is viagra ,but i dont want to have to use it. So any advice would be appreciated.

hari1956 answers:

If the women you have seen recently were casual dates, then I can understand completely your ED problem. You were used to the woman of the 15-year-long relationship, where everything was predictable and “normal” to your senses. Now all of that has changed. So be patient with yourself and go more slowly with your progress from dancefloor or dinner table to bedroom so that you get to know the prospective lover better and feel comfortable with her.

Also, you might be putting some kind of unreasonable pressure on yourself to “perform” or to prove something to yourself. If so, cut it out. That is not being fair to yourself. A young guy can get it up just by thinking about certain things, but for most middle-aged guys it just doesn’t work that automatically. So stop pressuring yourself to perform and instead focus on enjoying the togetherness of being with a partner or lover (even casually).

Bob asks…

Does this mean erectile dysfunction was psychological?

I had trouble getting an erection for awhile but gave masturbating a break for awhile and last night I was able to get an erection 5 times just by looking at a picture of a girl in a bathing suit. Does this mean I do not have erectile dysfunction and if I did the problem was not related to anything medical?

hari1956 answers:

Guess that you have been overdoing your masturbating a lot.
That can cause ED,You don’t get exited any more.
You solved it your self
Good on you

How do I help my husband with psychological erectile dysfunction?

hari1956 answers:

Lay down next to each other.
Tell him to close his eyes.
Ask him no to do a tiniest thing.

Play with his penis. For an hour. Suck it. Use both hands.
None of you expect anything.

Because of no expectations – you wil see what will happen.

Mike asks…

Im having a problem with psychological erectile dysfunction im only 21?

Im having a problem with erectile dysfuntion im only 21?
i have already been to the doctor, its psycological. i cannot even obtain an errection by myself. how do i fix this

it not performance anxitey im not even sexual active i cant get an errection on my own the doctor did a thourgh examination

hari1956 answers:

It could be stress. My husband had the same problem at 21 when he lost his job. From what I’ve read on the internet it could be anything to do with stress, money problems, lack of sleep, change in diet, too much stuff going on at once, etc. I’m sure whatever it is it will go away eventually. Like I said my husband had the same thing and after he found a new job and things went back to normal the ED went away and he hasn’t had any problems since. Hope you figure it out. =]

Muscles not from Brussels

Muscles not from Brussels (Photo credit: tajai)

If you love your body(who doesn’t),then perhaps the gym is your home.Gaining strength is easy when you first start hitting the gym.Your muscles go through a learning process,so almost anything you do triggers growth. But eventually your muscles adapt and improvements level off and you have train smarter to see results.
*Most guys works out the top portion of their body. The largest muscles, including the gluts, are in your lower body.Training them releases hormones that build size and strength everywhere else.
*Running for long distance isn’t a total waste of time but it’s close.Running doesn’t activate your fast twitch muscle fibres, which are great fat burners and bodybuilders. To get best result make a short burst of intense running followed by active rest. This type of training leads to gains in aerobic and anaerobic performance.
*Explosives lifting leads to fast gains. It activates more fast-twitch muscle fibres, which have the greatest growth potential. You also crank up your heart rate, inadvertently increasing the number of calories you burn.
*Don’t stay in a comfort zone.Professional athletes don’t sharpen their game simply by working on their strength-they also eliminate their weaknesses.
These are some of the points i have learned from my 30 years of working out in the gym, learning from my mistakes and observing other peoples mistakes.
How many times have you stopped at your neighbourhood store or on magazines and stared at what supplements to take. This question came to me too and decided to do some research on this sometime back.Ultimately,I zeroed in on XtremeNo for following reasons:

1) All the ingredients are produced from various herbs.
2) It’s main ingredient is a powerful ingredient called L-Arginine.

Let’s further look into what Arginine does.
Arginine is a powerful amino acid which converts into Nitric acid,as a result it makes arteries become relaxed, allowing blood to flow to the entire body.Efficient blood flow to the body helps in building muscles.

For individuals who want to lose weight,XtremeNo is a blessing.Arginine is capable of reducing the fat in our body by enhancing the metabolism rate. This happens by increasing the nitrogen balance in our body resulting to the conversion of Protein to muscle mass.
Overall,let’s see how it helps:

A top-down view of skeletal muscle

A top-down view of skeletal muscle (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

*it helps in maintaining the blood pressure.
*helps in indigestion.
*Enhances growth hormones.
*Preventing congestive heart failure.
*Promoting healthy Erectile function.
Arginine is now used to improve genetic growth deficiencies. This is because it helps in stimulating growth hormones which is essential for body building. This hormones is essential for anti-aging.We body builders have weakened immune systems, because of the stress we put in our bodies.XtremeNo helps to improve our immune system in the process build muscle mass.

Zyrtec 10mg and Enalapril Maleate (Blood pressure) 5mg causing attention deficit or loss of memory? whats up?

i am taking zyrtec 10mg for allergies and enalapril maleate 5mg for blood preasure. i am 24 years old and have noticed loss of short term memory, i am very forgetful in remembering things(#’s, names, website addresses..etc). i forget what my boss had told me about certain procedure the day before and she tells me like i would remember. i can’t focus on things, my mind is all over the place and feel very tired and feel like my brain is sleeping. i have anxiety problem but have never taken care of it (like talking to new people, boss, or girls, but iam usually very outspoken with people i am comfartable with.)

anyways, are these medications causing all this mind problems for me? like not being able to focus/pay attention or maintain things in my memory. i have an engineering degree and do not consider myself stupid, it usually takes longer to process and remember things now.

help me out if you are a doctor(i don’t have insurance) or if you have the same problems i am complaining about..

thanks

a detailed answer that finds me a good solution wins :)

hari1956 answers:

Some experience short-term memory loss with Zyrtec, so it’s the culprit, not enalapril maleate. If you still need the drug, you can try adjusting the dose by getting the 5mg form of Zyrtec. It may work less that the 10mg but the side effects decrease significantly. If the allergic reaction’s gone, you may stop taking the drug.

Nancy asks…

How many of you think “brain death” means the brain has stopped functioning?

If you think that “brain death” means the brain has stopped functioning, think again.

Before a diagnosis of brain death can be rendered, hypothermia must be ruled out. Since body temperature is maintained by the brain, some brain functioning is a requirement for a diagnosis of brain death!

Some “brain-dead cadavers” maintain their body’s electrolye balance, which necessitates a functioning hypothalamus-pituitary complex. Some “brain-dead cadavers” exhibit measureable activity in the brainstem in response to auditory and visual stimuli. And some “brain-dead cadavers” have acvtivity in the cerebral cortex which can be measured via an EEG.

During the organ explantation process, a “brain-dead cadaver” will exhibit a rise in blood pressure and heartbeat, and if paralyzing drugs are not administered, will thrash around.

Just as you would if someone attacked you with a knife.

To Sad Little Heathen Princess: you are mssing the point. No one knows if a “beating-hear cadaver” feels pain, terror, or grief when they saw open her rib cage and beging slicing out her organs one by one, without anaethesia, but if paralyzing drugs were not administered, she would certainly appear to be suffereing, and appearances are all we have to go on for those who cannot speak for themselves.

If I am ever in that state, I want them to pull the plug and let me die in peace. I don’t want them to dismember me while my heart is still beating and the brain still functioning. I don’t know that they feel pain, but I’m not wiling to take that chance.

hari1956 answers:

Regarding organ transfer, machines are keeping the body’s metabolic processes going, not the brain.

Brain death is loss of brain function, including brain stem. One of the determinations is lack of response to pain. Also, two physicians must agree, after two EEGs performed 24 hours apart.

I’d be interested in your sources.

Mike asks…

hari1956 answers:

Of course the brain functions to some extent or the whole body would shut down and die…
My brother was on life support for 8 days, his heart was beating on it’s own and he had random seizures and twitching the first day and nothing after. He never resumed breathing on his own . EEGs showed no electrical activity and limited blood flow to the brain…
By the time he was declared brain dead on day six, his organs had started to deteriorate and only the kidneys were harvestable by the transplant team.
The progressive deterioration of organs in a brain dead victim will eventually kill the patient and make transplant impossible…
I understand what you are saying and, believe me, I did not want to hear my baby brother was brain dead…but in most cases, the end is inevitable so why not make their trajedy a new chance at life for someone else?

-Much more energy (think of it as a souped up energy drink)
-Much greater mental focus (when taking it, i sometimes need to pry myself away from the weights after 2 hours or so)
Some of the side effects are usually stomach aches, however this can be avoided usually by keeping very hydrated and eating a small meal…
I use superpump250, and have had great effects with it. No Xplode is ok, but i find superpump more effective, and Nano Vapor is terrible, and has VERY little effect, don’t waste your money on that

Hope i helped

Benefits of bodybuilding?

I power train (power lifting and olympic Style weightlifting)
Im 6’1 185 Bench 250, alot of muscle dense (not alot of muscle size)
and i was wondering are there any benefits of bodybuilding besides muscle size

hari1956 answers:

Toning increases caloric output into the muscles and tones them to make them look sexy, or so the women say, lol. Also, since alot of the powerlifting focuses on only main muscle groups, toning can also increase the strength of those other small muscles which will give you a bit more of a solid frame.
